Special Access Programs
On 14 May 2012, the Secretary of the Army established the Army Special Programs Directorate (ASPD) as the Army Special
Access Program Central Office (SAPCO) and Sensitive Activities Oversight Office. To support ASPD in the execution of
its Special Access Program (SAP) oversight mission, the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 organizationally aligned its SAP
Security workforce under ASPD to exercise responsibility and streamline management and oversight of the Army SAP Security
Enterprise.
