Technical Security Team Mission


To prescribe policies, procedures and responsibilities for the Department of the Army (DA) in regards to Safeguarding and Controlling Communications Security (COMSEC) Material, Control of Compromising Emanations (TEMPEST) and COMSEC Monitoring. COMSEC security provides policy to implement supply control, item accounting and transaction reporting for COMSEC material. TEMPEST security policy implements national-level and DoD policies to protect information from foreign intelligence collection and requires the application of TEMPEST countermeasures be proportional and appropriate to the threat and potential damage to national security. COMSEC Monitoring implements the policy for conducting all forms of COMSEC Monitoring within the U.S. Army and subordinate elements. It also provides guidance for units conducting COMSEC Monitoring in support of joint and combined operations and activities.
