Letter of Determination (LOD)
If an applicant’s LOI appeal documents are not sufficient to mitigate ALL issues on the SOR, then they will be issued a Letter of Determination (LOD).
The LOD provides notice that the applicant’s security clearance eligibility or access has been OFFICIALLY denied or revoked.
The letter will state that the original response to the LOI/SOR was not sufficient and provides options for reconsideration and appeal. The LOD also reiterates the overall issues (i.e. personal conduct, financial considerations and/or other issues that apply) and what was/was not mitigated.
Upon receipt of this letter by the command, the individual’s access to classified information and assignment to sensitive duties will be
immediately
suspended.
