Maintenance & Renewal

Currently, DSS has not started the "clock" for SPeD certification maintenance/renewal. Security Professionals that have achieved SPeD Certifications are not yet on the two-year maintenance/renewal timeline. This is due to the fact that DSS is still solidifying Certification maintenance/renewal policy.
  • Anticipation of starting the clock for Certification maintenance/renewal is sometime in near future.

  • Certification maintenance/renewal dates will be marked by the FY quarter the Security Professional tested. For example if a security professional passed the SPeD certification exam in the first quarter of the year, they will need to achieve all required Professional Development Units(PDUs) by the two-year anniversary of the first quarter for their Certification maintenance/renewal.

  • It is encourage that all security professionals review the new PDU catalog that DSS has published at http://www.dss.mil/seta/sped/pdu.html. The PDU catalog is a living document and will continue to be updated to include additional training that is out there. Comments and recommendations regarding the catalog can be provided to usarmy.pentagon.hqda-dcs-g-2.mbx.sped@mail.mil. A standard form will be forthcoming to provide standardized method to submit the above information.
